    We’ll speak up for you

We want to make life fairer for people living and working in Milton Keynes. Through our research and campaigns work, we try to give a voice to the people who use our service, many of whom experience disadvantage, hardship and discrimination.

We help 8000 local people every year, and perhaps more than any other organisation, we have a closer understanding of the problems they’ve been through, and how it has affected their lives.

As well as giving advice, we look in detail at lots of the problems that our staff and volunteers help to solve every year. Doing this research helps us to understand how problems start, how they are sometimes linked together and how they might be prevented in the future.

We use this insight to campaign against things that are unfair & that often put people at a disadvantage such as, when they pay for something, borrow money, or try to access the welfare system.

What is research and campaigns work?

All of us are affected by the rules and laws which shape the services and benefits that we rely on. Often, they are not always written down or easy for many people to find out about.

Whether it’s a policy of the government or local council, the way an energy company treats its customers, or the experience of tenants renting from a private landlord, we draw attention to tackling problems at the because this helps everyone, whether they have come to us for advice or not.

Our campaigns only work because they are rooted in the experiences and stories of real people – our clients.
